About the Specification
You
need a modern, powerful notebook computer to successfully
complete the program. You also need one that is
trouble-free. We've also learned from 10 years of
experience that when our students need technical support, we
are best able to provide support of a standardized
configuration. We've also learned that those few
non-standard machines that have been used during the program
account for about 75% of our support problems and time
spent. Thus, reducing our ability to provide prompt
support for students who invest in the standardized notebook
configuration package. For this reason, each student
enrolling in the program must purchase and use the program's
standardized notebook.

Supporting You and Your MacBook
To put it
plainly, Mac's are built as a integrated system of hardware
and software, so they don't suffer near the number of
meltdowns many PC's encounter. But, if something comes
up, we are here for you when you have a question or need
help with your MacBook. When you purchase your MacBook
Bundle through us, the program's tech team is a friendly and
knowledgeable lifeline. We also have other resources
to provide help - including the University's Central Help
Desk, Centra Support, the UC Computer Store, Apple, and your
local Apple Store.
Ordering Your Computer
The University of Tennessee's
UC Computer Store
is the provider for your
notebook
package. By purchasing through the UC Computer Store, you
have the assurance that the notebook will be correctly
configured and outfitted. Students purchasing through the UC
Computer also qualify you for deeply discounted academic
pricing on hardware and software. The savings are both
compelling and substantial.
Please note that the program does not derive any revenue
from the sale of the notebook computer bundles. Further, the
UC Computer Store was established to provide students,
faculty and staff affordable access to quality technology using a
simple cost recovery model versus the for-profit models
found at other college stores or consumer/retail outlets.
Ordering your computer will be easy too. It only takes a few
minutes to place your order online, by telephone, or by fax.
Paying for/Financing Your
Computer
If you choose to finance the purchase of
the notebook computer package there are numerous resources
and ways to obtain financing. You may use your credit card
(the UC Computer Store accepts Visa and MasterCard, cash,
cashier's check, and traveler's checks). You may wish to
contact your bank or credit union to arrange a computer
loan.
